Huge Support for Helping Angels
Charity Helping Angels have been presented with a cheque for more than £2,000 from a local businessman.
Independent Travel agent John Lehnert trekked to the lost city of Teyuna, in Colombia in October 2019 to raise money for the Burslem charity.
The marathon trek which was organised by Not Just Travel – a group of independent travel experts – took John five Days to complete.
Helping Angels CA supports vulnerable Adults and Children with Disabilities. The main aim of the charity is to empower and inspire people to be involved in the local community. They do this by exploring activities that will promote independence and develop skills and abilities
John chose to support Helping Angels after meeting charity manager Natasha Gratton at a business event.
He said: “I met Natasha at a networking event in Newcastle and got to know her and admire her work with Helping Angels. Organising and doing the trek was a brilliant way to help a local charity, who like most charities are severely underfunded. The trek itself was for me the most physically and mentally combined effort I have ever undertaken and it felt such an achievement to reach the lost city.”
Natasha Gratton Charity Manager at Helping Angels said: “John has been a fantastic support to the charity and he has taken his time to get to know us, what we do and the difference we are trying to make in our local community. This money will support us to provide further support to adults and children with disabilities in Stoke on Trent. We will be working with John more in the future.”
