Work on the play area began on Monday 23 May and is planned to be completed in time for the school summer holidays. As part of the refurbishment, play equipment will be replaced and a brand new space net and tyre swing will be added. There will also be a new picnic area installed.
Cllr Carl Edwards, cabinet member for housing and environment said: “Public playgrounds are not only an iconic symbol of childhood, they also encourage imaginative and physical play. It’s great news that the play area at Westport Lake will be getting a revamp with new play equipment and a great new picnic area for visitors to this fantastic site.
“We know that the park is very popular and so we’ve got a fantastic range of alternative activities over the weekends while the work takes place. I would encourage anyone to come down and have a go.”
