New raised flower beds for Coopers Croft
Residents from Coopers Croft care home in Stoke-on-Trent are getting ready to grow their own vegetable garden after Emery’s Builders Merchants donated accessible raised beds for the home’s garden.
80-year-old Coopers Croft resident, John Humphries, said: “I had a beautiful garden in my own home, but it was far too big for me. Here, I have a room by the care home’s garden and the raised beds which means I can continue with my gardening hobby. I can’t wait to get started.”
To thank Emery’s Builders Merchants for their kind donation, Coopers Croft paid them a visit to deliver homemade sweet treats. John Goodwin from the merchants commented: “We like to help our community if we can, and we thought this was a wonderful project to be involved in. It was a nice surprise to have a visit and lots of cake from Coopers Croft, everyone really enjoyed it.”
The residents at Coopers Croft have now launched a Community Gardening Club, where all are welcome to come together every Wednesday from 10:00-12:00 to take part in garden projects.
Sam Smith, the Home Manager at Coopers Croft, said: “We’re so grateful to Emery’s Builder’s Merchants for our fantastic raised planters, where our residents are already enjoying spending time in the sun.
“Gardening is something everyone can enjoy, whether you’re aged nine or 90, so we hope to have lots of community members join our new gardening club. All are welcome.“
