Little Dragon Club at Stoke Libraries
A new early year’s scheme that will boost literacy levels across Stoke-on-Trent is set to launch in Stoke-on-Trent libraries
The Little Dragon Club, ideal for children aged 0-4 launched at all Stoke-on-Trent Libraries from Monday 27 November.
Upon signing up children will receive a Little Dragon Club passport, bookmark and a badge. Each time children attend one of Stoke-on-Trent’s free weekly Singing Bears, Bouncing Bears or Story Bears sessions or borrow books from the library they will be able to collect a special stamp in their passport.
For every 6 stamps a child collects in their passport they will receive a certificate congratulating them on their achievement and encouraging them to come to more sessions and borrow more books.
There are six certificates to collect and once a child has completed the Little Dragon Club they will also receive a branded Little Dragon Club tote bag, ideal for carrying Little Dragon’s book treasure home from the library.
Cllr Jane Ashworth, Leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council said: “The Little Dragons Club is all about expanding speech, language and vocabulary skills for children aged 0-4. This is a crucial time in their lives, and while these sessions are interactive and fun, they also have a number of hidden benefits for babies and toddlers.
“I would encourage all young parents to check out join the Little Dragons Club at their local Stoke-on-Trent library today.”
