ETRURIA CANALS FESTIVAL at ETRURIA INDUSTRIAL MUSEUM
This year the popular Etruria Canals Festival will take place at the Etruria Industrial Museum on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June between 11.00am to 5.00pm each day. In addition to a historic and interesting narrowboat gathering along the bank of the attractive and historic Caldon canal there will be a range of family friendly workshops and entertainment, children’s games and activities, storytelling and performances, craft demonstrations, working blacksmith’s forge, stalls, street food, tearoom, and beer tent.
The festival has the theme of ‘Transitions’ which reflects the changes that have taken place on the site from before the industrial revolution. To highlight the industrial heritage a music and sound trail has been commissioned. This will lead visitors along the canal to the museum, where there will be a music workshop, and to Shirley’s 1857 Bone and Flint Mill. It will be ‘in steam’ and operating from 12.30 to 16.30. This year, entry will be free with the volunteers, who have restored and operate the mill, requesting donations. Guided tours by the volunteers (subject to availability) are at a reduced price of £5.00 per adult.
Unfortunately, due to its historic nature there is limited access to the mill for those with mobility difficulties.
Parking and entrance to the site is FREE and off Etruria Vale Road, Stoke-on-Trent ST1 4RB.
