Christmas Cheer at Belong in Newcastle-under-Lyme
It comes but once a year and festivities in Newcastle-under-Lyme are making for the most wonderful time as the town’s community joins dementia specialist, Belong, for seasonal celebrations.
Members of the public were welcomed to the Lower Street village’s annual fair to meet Santa Claus himself, before enjoying a browse of artisan gift stalls from independent traders.
Guests also had the chance to mingle with Belong’s older residents and apartment tenants over mince pies and mulled wine served up in the onsite bistro.
Other highlights in the yuletide experience programme for its customers included live entertainment from musicians and singers, pantomime and school choirs, whilst weekly craft workshops have seen the village fill with gingerbread houses, wreaths and cards.
Those keen to get out and about have been delighting in group excursions to the town’s big lights switch on, and the New Vic Theatre for The Nutcracker: A Christmas Fairytale.
Meanwhile, in the spirit of the season, Elf Day bingo has raised funds to support the Alzheimer’s Society, and the Tree of Light service, led by Reverend Christine Legg and the Fustian Band has remembered loved ones.
“We’re all about involving the community in our experiences and so we welcome everyone – pop in to say hello and ask for a copy of our What’s On guide to see what’s coming up. For now, merry Christmas, all.”
