Basford Nursery joins residents at Coopers Croft
National Winnie the Pooh Day was as sweet as honey when residents at Coopers Croft care home had a teddy bears’ picnic with children from Kids Planet Nursery.
With bears in hand, the children and residents gathered in Coopers Croft’s cosy cinema room where they read a classic Winnie the Pooh tale. When story time was over, the group bonded over a picnic together complete with homemade cupcakes.
Coopers Croft resident, Neville Mould, said: “It was great to see the children enjoying themselves. I was sat right next to them so I could join in – I’m looking forward to them coming back soon.’
Rachel Sherratt, the Manager at Kids Planet, added: ‘It brought a tear to my eye seeing the residents and children interacting together. The children felt very comfortable, and it made me realise just how important those intergenerational relationships are. Lovely memories were made!’
The children from Kids Planet have been invited back to Coopers Croft in the Spring when the residents will be adopting disabled hedgehogs from Newcastle Hedgehog Rescue.
Alex Field, the Home Manager at Coopers Croft, commented: ‘We truly value our relationships with the local community and feel very fortunate to be able to give our residents the opportunities to form such beautiful connections with the younger generations.’
Coopers Croft are also inviting community members to join them for their ‘Social Saturday’ event every week from 14:00 until 16:00. All are welcome to visit the home for live entertainment, good company, and delicious homemade refreshments.
