Armed Forces Day to be marked by civic procession in Newcastle-under-Lyme
A Civic procession, military display and a host of family activities will be taking place to celebrate Armed Forces Day in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
The event, which is being organised by the Tri-Services and Veterans Support Centre, will be held in the town centre on Saturday 25 June, starting from 10:45am.
Local Army, Navy and Airforce cadets will join the Tri-Services along with National Veteran charities the Royal British legion, SSAFA and Help for Heroes.
Live music will also be provided by the Sassy Grey and Friends War Time Tribute Band who will be playing near to the historic Guildhall.
Newcastle-under-Lyme BID and the Borough Council are supporting the event which will run until around 4pm.
Charl Pearce, BID manager, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone to the town to celebrate Armed Forces Day. The BID is delighted to be supporting this special event, along with the council – it really is going to be a huge celebration in our town centre and a brilliant way to show support for all of our Armed Forces community.
“Tri-Services Veterans, SSAFA the Royal British Legion and Help For Heroes will be in the town all day to chat to visitors and to share information about the great work that they do. Plus there will be fantastic displays in the town including military vehicle and equipment, and plenty of family activities, face painting and not forgetting food stalls which will be situated near to the Guildhall and The Stones market area.”
