A Civic procession, military display and a host of family activities will be taking place to celebrate Armed Forces Day in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Saturday, 24th June.

The Tri-Services and Veteran Support Centre, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council and Newcastle-under-Lyme BID welcome the public to show their support for the men and women who make up the British Armed Forces community.

The event will begin with a Civic Procession from Castle House at 10:45 am to lead onto a service held at the Cenotaph in Red Lion Square to commemorate the service of currently serving troops and reservists, veterans, cadets, and their families.

Charl Pearce, BID manager, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone to the town to celebrate Armed Forces Day.

“The BID is delighted to be supporting this special event – it really is going to be a huge celebration in our town centre and a brilliant way to show support to the military community.

“Tri-Services Veterans, SSAFA Local Army, Navy and Airforce cadets will be part of the event as well as various military charities who will be in the town all day to chat with visitors and share information about their excellent work.

“Plus, there will be fantastic displays in the town, including a military parade and  military vehicles.”

Also, there will be a vibrant general market in the town centre, with Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council inviting young traders who’ll be taking a stall for the first time and equipment, and plenty of family activities, including face painting, food, and ice cream.”

The UK Armed Forces defend the country and its interests every day of the year, and Armed Forces Day enables the public to come out, show their support and give a much-valued morale boost to Armed Forces personnel and their families.
