Young Performers invited for Summer of Fun at the New Vic
A programme of fun activities are planned at a Newcastle-under-Lyme theatre this summer.
An outdoor woodland camp is the setting for the New Vic’s holiday activities for young people this year.
Run by the New Vic Education team, the program of activities for children throughout August will include a two-day Toyshop Tales workshop, and see the return of the much-loved Play in a Week.
In Toyshop Tales from Thursday 5 to Friday 6 August, children aged four to nine will use their imaginations during two days packed full of activities, drama games and crafts, to tell some tales from behind the doors of a toyshop.
Meanwhile, children aged 10 to 15 will be welcomed for the return of Play in a Week from Monday 9 to Friday 13 August. Join the team for an enjoyable week rehearsing a play, and preparing to perform it outdoors. Led by Education Practitioner Becky Salt, this year’s production will be Robin Hood, with the theatre’s woodland camp providing the perfect forest setting for the final performance.
Head of Education Jill Rezzano said: “This year more than ever children need to enjoy being active and making stories together. Here at the New Vic Theatre, we will be opening up our exciting outdoor space for children to transform with their imaginations, sharing ideas and making new friends. Join us for a unique and memorable summer drama adventure.”
