Half-Term tips for Staffordshire
Half term will be very different this year, but there are still ways to enjoy it in Staffordshire, whether you are staying at home or exploring your local area.
There’s a huge range of virtual rainy day activities to keep the family occupied, including Facebook Live events and videos from Peak Wildlife Park – perfect for animal lovers, who can get to know the lemurs, meerkats and penguins from their sofa.
Waterworld’s Facebook page is home to a 360 degree virtual tour, to help you relive great days out and plan your first post-lockdown visit, and there are tours at the Lichfield Cathedral and Gladstone Pottery Museum websites too. Trentham Monkey Forest and Potteries Museum & Art Gallery websites are packed with at home fun, including quizzes, puzzles, arts and crafts activities and more.
There are plenty of options if you fancy a breath of fresh air with some of outdoor attractions still open for pre-booked exercise, for local residents only. See what you can discover on a lockdown walk at The Trentham Estate, a haven for wildlife including otters, herons and deer, or discover the magical creations on the enchanted fairy trail.
There’s lots to spot at the National Memorial Arboretum, with almost 400 memorials on the sprawling riverside site, and many natural species living on the banks of the Rivers Tame and Trent.
Weston Park reopened the park and gardens from on February 12th, offering the chance to escape and stretch your legs in 1000 acres of Capability Brown landscapes.
For daily local exercise there are natural assets across the county to enjoy, including the Staffordshire Peak District, Cannock Chase, and The National Forest, plus vast country parks and nature reserves.
Please ensure that you adhere to Government guidelines and stay local.
