The Hitmix welcomes new additions
Newcastle-under-Lyme Radio Station, The Hitmix, has welcomed three new presenters to its team.
The community radio station has recently seen ex-Signal 2 presenter Paul Fairclough sign up for a weekday show, plus experienced radio presenter Dave Evison will be doing a new Soul show and Brit Pop expert Rob Fiddaman is set to start his own show, which will feature local bands from September.
Station Manager Robbie Benson is delighted with the new additions to the expanding Hitmix team and said: “I really am so excited and thrilled that Paul, Dave and Rob are joining us here at the Hitmix. They all have a wealth of experience in radio and music and I know they are all going to bring a new dimension to the station.”
Robbie added: “We already have a dynamic team of presenters at the Hitmix who are all committed to bringing their own personalities and flair to the station. We all work really hard and the Hitmix has grown considerably – the whole team are thrilled with the new additions as we can now provide even more great entertainment to our communities and listeners.”
Paul Fairclough will be presenting the Midday show Monday – Friday 11am – 2pm, Dave Evison will be on air each Sunday for “Roll back the carpets” from 5pm – 7pm (starting 6th September) and Rob Fiddaman, who has also written a book about Brit Pop, will be starting his brand new music show in September.
BabaBaboon’s Creative Director Sonya Farrall presents “Local & Live” each Sunday morning from 10am-12. It’s the first time Sonya has worked in radio and since starting her show in July, 2019 she has benefitted in more ways than one.
“I was over the moon when the Hitmix asked if I wanted to do a radio show,” says Sonya.
“As I’d never done any real radio before, apart from Hospital Radio when I was younger, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I loved it right from the start – the Hitmix really has welcomed me with open arms and from doing the show my confidence has grown massively – I cannot thank them enough for the opportunity.”
Sonya added: “The Hitmix is very much about community and sharing positive news and that is exactly what I am all about, and that is what BabaBaoon is all about – so I guess it was a natural fit and I am also really looking forward to getting to know the new presenters. We have a fab team and it’s all really exciting.”
The Hitmix 107.5 first opened its doors in November 2015. Since then the station has expanded its state of the art studios and is not only on FM radio, but listeners can also tune in online via the website and the Hitmix app.
Robbie said: “The Hitmix is continuously evolving to meet the needs of our community. We are here to support local charities, businesses and organisations, and our door is always open. We have listeners tuning in from all over the world which is amazing. And we haven’t stopped yet. More developments are planned in the coming months so watch this space!”
