Sing for our Angels and Feature in special video honouring keyworkers
VOLUNTEERS are being invited to record themselves singing Robbie Williams’ biggest hit – Angels – in a special tribute to keyworkers.
Organisers of tourism group Enjoy Staffordshire, have been granted permission to use the 1997 hit track as a thank you to keyworkers helping the nation to get through the coronavirus pandemic.
Enjoy Staffordshire, with the help of Staffordshire County Council and other local authority partners, are asking for recordings of the Robbie hit to be emailed in.
Suitable entries will then be edited onto a group video and played via YouTube during this year’s Staffordshire Day celebrations.
The entries will then be edited into one video, dedicated to the thousands of NHS staff, carers, armed forces personnel, delivery drivers, supermarket workers, farmers, emergency services staff and other ‘angels’ who are keeping the county and the country going through the current crisis.
The video will premiere on YouTube on Friday 1st May, as part of this year’s online-only Staffordshire Day programme, which will also feature poetry readings, art classes, cooking demonstrations, talks and live music.
Mark Winnington, Cabinet Member responsible for tourism at Staffordshire County Council and Vice Chair of Destination Staffordshire said: “For Staffordshire Day this year, we want to bring people together and thank the angels who have stepped up to get the nation through the Coronavirus crisis. A sing-along is a great way to do that, and what better song than Angels for the occasion?
“Robbie’s one of our own and we’re very proud of him in Staffordshire, and the song is hugely uplifting and meaningful. Thank you to Robbie Williams and his management team at IE Music for giving us permission to do this. We want as many people as possible to send us a video of them singing the song, whether you have the voice of Pavarotti or only ever dare singing in the shower. – let’s make a great video and show our angels just how much we love them in Staffordshire.”
Entries need to be emailed in before 26 April.
