Organisations encouraged to apply for share of £6 million UKSPF cash
Businesses, organisations and community groups across Stoke-on-Trent are being invited to apply for a share of £6 million government funding.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council has secured almost £9.5 million from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to support key initiatives which will benefit the city over the next two years.
Around £3 million has been allocated to a number of priority projects which will help to tackle key issues within the city. And the larger share of £6 million is available to businesses and local groups across Stoke-on-Trent after cabinet agreed to accept the UKSPF grant.
Now eligible organisations are being encouraged to apply for a share of the money to local support projects which fall under one of the three UKSPF funding priorities:
- Communities and Place – this covers public realm projects, community-led initiatives and cultural and heritage projects;
- Supporting Local Business – this will support local businesses to thrive, innovate and grow;
- People and Skills – this will provide employment support and funding for skills to enable people to progress in life and work.
Successful applicants must use the funding to be deliver their proposed project by March 2025.
Funding for projects under the People and Skills priority will not be available for delivery until April 2024 but applications must be made during the current open round for applications which closes on Thursday 6 April 2023.
Councillor Abi Brown, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is an opportunity for us to work together to support our local residents, communities and businesses. This funding will be used to support projects which will enhance our neighbourhoods, housing and infrastructure as well as providing opportunities for businesses to grow and support for people looking to get into work.
“It’s incredible what can be achieved by working together with a shared ambition and I am very much looking forward to hearing ideas about how we can address some of the key challenges faced by our city.”
A new prospectus has been produced to offer guidance to prospective applicants. For more information about UKSPF and details on how to apply visit www.stoke.gov.uk/ukspf
Applications must be submitted via email to ukspf@stoke.gov.uk by midnight on Thursday 6 April 2023.
