Late night festive extravaganza at Hanley Market

A snow lion, Santa visiting from the North Pole and Christmassy artisan traders are just a few of the festivities happening at Hanley Market’s late night extravaganza.

The indoor market will be holding a late night opening for the whole family on Thursday, November 28.

To launch the market’s festive activities throughout the end of November and December, a giant animatronic snow lion, direct from the Forests of Eternal Snow, will be entertaining shoppers on the night at 4:30pm, 5:45pm and 7pm for half an hour showings.

As well as a visit from this magical creature, Santa while be flying in from the North Pole for his first visit to the market in 2019. Visit him in his Grotto and receive a free gift.

The Lord Mayor will be officially opening the market’s charity photography exhibition in aid of Manchester Children’s Hospital, which will showcase work from more than 70 local photographers over the festive period.

Councillor Carl Edwards, cabinet member for environment said: “Hanley market’s late night Christmas extravaganza will be a fantastic event for the whole family. We are committed to the High Street, and by putting on these types of events it means there is more to see and do as well as supporting local traders. Christmas is a magical time and the snow lion will be a unique and enchanting experience for all. We would encourage anyone who has the time to pop along to the market and join in the fun.”

Richard Buxton, Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) Manager, said: “We’re really proud to support Hanley Market with its new and exciting Christmas events this year. A major aim of the Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID is to provide a welcoming and engaging destination for visitors to enjoy and so by supporting events such as this, we hope to see more people come to Hanley to sample what the area has to offer.

Hanley market’s late night extravaganza will be held on Thursday, November 28, 4pm to 8pm. You can also visit the King’s Christmas market at the Kings Hall, Stoke on Sunday, December 1, 10am to 4pm. The perfect time to get your bespoke Christmas presents and choose from a range of handmade crafts and jewellery, alongside entertainment throughout the day. Admission is just £1 (under 14’s are free).
