A brand new family event – Castle Food & Drink Fest – is set to arrive in Newcastle-under-Lyme for the August Bank Holiday Saturday 2024.
The event will see mouth watering street food, artisan markets, activities and crafts for children, food demonstrations, workshops and live music taking place on the Ironmarket and High Street,

Independent Street, known for its successful events in the North West, champions local independent businesses and produce, providing a platform for small businesses to showcase their offerings to the local community.
Attendees can expect an array of food traders featuring an eclectic mix of cuisines, including handmade dumplings, Filipino street food, hand pressed toasties, biltong, taste tingling cheese truckles, handmade marshmallow and fudges, gluten free and vegan, artisan gins, wood fired pizzas, local honey, samosas and onion bhajis, olives, mezze, Turkish delights and Baklava, hog roast, sourdough breads, cakes, bakes, handmade Portuguese delicacies, Chutneys and sauces made from old family recipes, tasty tipples, and much more.
The event will not only offer an opportunity to indulge in some delicious food from a selection of traders, but also offer an opportunity to learn about the origins of food plus meet the talented makers and bakers.
A mix of local artisan traders along with local artists and crafters will be in the town where handmade artisan candles and hand created jewellery will be on offer.
Lisa Cowley of Independent Street said: “We are delighted to have been asked to collaborate on a new annual event for the heart of Newcastle Under Lyme. An event like this is a great way to showcase local talent whilst also boosting footfall to the town centre. The day will be packed full of local artisan producers and foodies. Pop along and join us and soak up the atmosphere.
“It is a superb opportunity to find out the origins of your food, feast your eyes upon some goodies and fill those shopping bags. There is something for the whole family and best of all, it’s free entry.”
Charl Pearce, BID Manager, adds: “Let’s face it, we’re a nation of foodies and Newcastle’s food and drink offering is continually growing. This festival is a fantastic way to bring in a variety of street foods to the town as well as celebrate local offerings. We are delighted to collaborate with Independent Street and look forward to seeing everyone at the event.”
