Castle Food & Drink Fest for the Bank Holiday weekend
Castle Food & Drink Fest is making its debut in Newcastle-under-Lyme for the August Bank Holiday weekend.
This exciting new event – in collaboration with Newcastle-under-Lyme BID and Independent Street – with support from Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, is set to transform the Ironmarket and High Street.
More than 50 artisan stalls, mouth-watering street food, free workshops, and activities for all ages will take place on Saturday 24 August between 11am – 4pm.
There will be a wide variety of food and drink traders offering an eclectic mix of cuisines, including handmade dumplings, Filipino street food, wood-fired pizzas, sourdough breads, local honey, and much more.
Free Workshops will take place including free demos and talks from town centre businesses such as FEASTED’s Cris Cohen and Ben from Piccoloco and plenty of activities for the family – from free children’s activities to small fairground rides.
Plus there will also be a Man V Oatcake competition, where contestants will battle it out for a chance to win a year’s supply of oatcakes from Castle Oatcakes.
Lisa Cowley of Independent Street said: “We are thrilled to be collaborating on this new event in the heart of Newcastle-under-Lyme. This is a great way to showcase local talent and boost footfall to the town centre. The day will be packed with local artisan producers and foodies. Come along, soak up the atmosphere, and fill those shopping bags. There’s something for the whole family, and best of all, it’s free.”
Charl Pearce, BID Manager added :“We’re a nation of foodies, and Newcastle’s food and drink scene is continually growing. This festival is a fantastic way to bring in a variety of street foods to the town while celebrating the amazing local offerings. We are delighted to collaborate with Independent Street and can’t wait to see everyone there.”
