Birthday celebrations day for Artisan Market

NUl-Market

Castle Artisan Market – which is held in Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre – is celebrating its first birthday with a family friendly Halloween theme.

The brainchild of local trader and market host Mike Davies of Punx Puds together with son Jake, the Castle Artisan Market idea was developed to showcase the talents of makers, bakers and creators from Newcastle-under-Lyme and surrounding Staffordshire areas and to help bring shoppers back to the Stones at a monthly outdoor event.

With support from the Newcastle-under-Lyme Business Improvement District and Newcastle Markets teams, the Castle Artisan Market now boasts an impressive 66 stalls all featuring locally produced food, art and crafts to shoppers on the historic Stones each and every month.

To help celebrate the landmark first birthday, the organisers have organised free family focused entertainment including have-a-go circus skills courtesy of the Circus Academy, Leek a make your own clay pumpkin workshop with the local Crafty Kidz team and a trick or treat trail around the market with bonus treats for the best dressed participants.

The first birthday market is scheduled for Sunday 17 October from 10am.

Castle Artisan Market co-host and organiser, Mike Davies said: “Looking back over what’s been a tough 18 months for our traders and local retailers alike. We’ve been overwhelmed at the support we’ve received for
the Castle Artisan Market since its inception back in October last year and we’ve worked really hard to make the monthly market a welcoming, enjoyable and above all safe place for families to visit and meet our local makers, bakers and creators with significant effort made to provide plenty of hand sanitiser stations and safety measures put in place, so we really wanted to do something to mark our first birthday with some engaging activities that the whole family will enjoy.”

Mike adds: “We’ve also got some great plans for extra events and market expansion in the pipeline, so
want to say a big thank you for those that have supported this community minded venture and reminder everyone to keep an eye on our Facebook page for further updates. “
